POSITION DESCRIPTION

The main duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Incorporate advanced technical practices and a variety of complex features such as complicated technical requirements, application of new or special materials or processes and difficult coordination or oversight requirements into problem solving and program planning,
  • Provide leadership in determining solutions to complex problems and be recognized as having expertise in a functional area(s) of technical expertise,
  • Develop solutions to complex technical problems in fields of expertise,
  • Identify technical programs which can be carried out with little guidance and take the initiative to accomplish them,
  • Lead task teams for developing solutions to more complex problems. Prepare plans including schedules, budgets and personnel requirements for solving major technical tasks identified by management,
  • Develop schedules, monitor progress, monitor expenditures of budget and review quality of work performed. Include research, development, testing, quality assurance requirements,
  • Communicate the results and objectives verbally and in manuscript form to customers, colleagues, managers and oversight groups,
  • Prepare reports for external.

 

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Ph.D. degree and 10 years' experience,
  • A MS degree and 12 years' experience,
  • A BS degree and approximately 15 years' experience,
  • Nuclear Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or Chemistry.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Considered an internal expert in area of expertise.
  • Contributes to advancing knowledge in field of expertise through various avenues such as internal and external publications and professional society presentations,
  • Can solve complex problems in field,
  • Previous experience with the use and implementation of 10 CFR 830, DOE O 413.3, DOE O 420.1, DOE STDs 3009, 1186, 1189 and related directives and standards is required,
  • Candidate must demonstrate proficiency in developing and providing safety basis inputs to facility/project schedules, while meeting deadlines and budgets,
  • Candidate must perform work safely and be proficient in performing Nuclear Safety Program assessments,
  • Ability to work in a diverse work environment,
  • Satisfactory results of a pre-employment screening, which includes a background check and drug screening in accordance with Federal requirements (details below),
  • Ability to fulfill and promote L&A core values.

 

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Previous experience on DOE sites and programs,
  • Candidates who have possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years are preferred,
  • Demonstrated previous SRS nuclear safety engineering experience is preferred
  • Fifteen years of relevant experience in developing, reviewing, and maintaining safety basis documents and safety basis support
  • documents are preferred.
  • Have previous Lead experience in developing safety basis documentation
