@Orchard LLC has been retained by a growing Federal contractor with a great culture to identify an experienced Systems Engineer. This position supports the Defense Human Resources Activity/ Defense Civilian Personnel Advisory Service (DCPAS) which requires comprehensive support to it’s HR IT Modernization efforts. The requirement includes providing support with requirements analysis, business case assessments, and change management for the DCHRMS and other HR IT efforts throughout the lifecycle of the following operations, of the following DoD and non-DoD Components: DoD – Air Force, Army, Navy, Defense Finance and Accounting Service (DFAS),Defense Logistics Agency (DLA), and National Guard (NG).As the System Engineer you will;
- Communicate progress, status, and issues to leadership
- Leads in the development of the technical solution or offering, and in translating the business needs into technical requirements. Identifies gaps, impacts, and the risk profile in the technical solution or offering, and provides technical support
- Performs a variety of system engineering tasks and activities that are broad in nature and are concerned with major systems design, integration, and implementation.
- Provide leadership in infrastructure migration methodologies and techniques
- Actively participate in Engineering Scrum and design meetings to drive quality releases
- Produce and maintain documentation on installations, procedures, and requirements for systems

- Ability to obtain a public trust clearance
- Minimum Education Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, or equivalent technology discipline and/ or equivalent related development experience in lieu of degree
- Strong knowledge/experience with SQL/Databases
- Must be able to adjust to constant business change, including new requirements, evolving goals and strategies, and emerging technologies.>>>>

- Experience working in teams to produce high-impact work products, reports, and other deliverables in a fast-paced environment

- Demonstrated ability to leverage engineering methods and tools to conceive, develop, operate, and maintain systems and solutions.
- Advanced or expert-level knowledge of Systems Engineering, to include hands-on project engineering, System of Systems, and Enterprise Systems Engineering experience.
- Applying technical leadership and expertise integrating new technology, and/or applying innovative techniques to solve complex implementation and integration IT challenges
- End-to-end understanding of systems development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and the ability to independently engineer, analyze, and test complex applications, systems, and/or services
- Strong communication skills, both written and oral, to be able to convey complex ideas to people at all organizational levels in a logical and understandable manner
- Demonstrated systems engineering project experience (requirements development, requirements management, design, or verification)
- Communicate clearly and concisely, orally and in writing, with users and technical support
- Clearly articulating Chirality’s value-propositions and preparing final drafts of major deliverables assuring quality control
- Desired:
- 2 years of experience in the Management Consulting field
- 2 years of experience on HR IT projects
- Ability to travel 10% of the time
- Advanced degree in a business or technical field preferred
- Possessing a range of technical certifications, such as: (a) higher level network-related certifications (e.g., CCNP, CCIE, JNCP, JNCIE, etc.); (b) higher level platform-related certifications (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, MCSD, MCP, RHCE, RHDS, RHCA, LPIC-2, LPIC-3, VCP, VCAP, SNIA, etc.); or (c) higher level systems-related certifications (e.g., ESEP, CSEP, AWS)
- Experience with monitoring and analytical tools (Splunk, New Relic)
- Experience with automation and provisioning tools (Chef/Puppet/Terraform)
- Experience working with various SDLC groups (Development, QA, Configuration Management) on project work as well as solving real time production system issues
- Experience with AWS; AWS Certified Solution Architect is a plus
- Experience with Windows and Linux-based operating system configuration, automation, and management
- Ability to learn new technologies quickly and efficiently
- Excellent technical analysis, problem solving skills, communication, documentation and reporting skills
- Must be able to interact effectively with employees at all levels of the organization
- Able to work in a fast-paced environment and be flexible to meet time demands without compromising quality
- Experience/knowledge of administering application servers, web servers and databases (Jetty, Tomcat, Webshere, Nginx, Apache, Postgres, etc.)
- Experience with Docker/Kubernetes in a production environment
- Familiarization with Big Data, Search, Cybersecurity, Test and Evaluation (T&E), and/or Cloud technologies
