Position Summary:

Rappahannock Goodwill Industries is seeking a dependable Full-Time Daytime Custodian/Driver to join our team at the Quantico Marine Corps Base. This role includes custodial duties during the day and serving as a backup van driver when needed. The primary shift is from 6:00 AM to 1:30 PM.

The custodian is responsible for performing routine cleaning and maintenance of base facilities to ensure a clean, safe, and sanitary environment. This includes tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, vacuuming, trash removal, and restroom sanitation.

In addition to custodial duties, the individual will serve as a backup driver for our transportation van, which travels daily between Fredericksburg and Quantico. You will drive the van only when the regular driver is unavailable.

Essential Duties:

• Sweep, mop, scrub, and vacuum all floor surfaces.
• Dust, clean, and polish furniture and fixtures.
• Collect and dispose of trash; replace liners and clean receptacles as needed.
• Clean and restock restroom facilities (toilets, sinks, dispensers).
• Clean windows, mirrors, door handles, switch plates, and partitions.
• Maintain clean and well-stocked custodial closets; ensure equipment is functioning.
• Manage inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisor of low stock or equipment issues.
• Report any maintenance needs or facility damage to your supervisor.
• Serve as a backup driver for the staff transportation van as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must be eligible for DBIDS (Defense Biometric Identification System) access.
• Must pass a background check, drug screening, and DMV check (required for insurance compliance).
• Must be able to communicate effectively in English.
• Ability to follow instructions for mixing cleaning chemicals and using equipment safely.
• Must be flexible, reliable, and able to work efficiently in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment.
• Prior custodial experience (1–2 years) preferred but not required—on-the-job training available.
• Experience in a professional janitorial environment (office buildings, schools, hospitals, hotels) is a plus.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, twist, push, and reach overhead for extended periods (up to 100% of shift).
• Must be able to lift and carry up to 35 pounds.
• Must be able to operate custodial equipment safely and effectively.

Transportation:

• Reliable transportation to and from Quantico is required.
• OR you may utilize the company van departing from our Market Street (Fredericksburg) location daily.
