The Opportunity
A Fortune 500 telecommunications company is seeking a Category Manager for a long-term temporary position expected to last at least twelve months, possibly longer. The position is hybrid: Tuesday through Thursday in office, with Monday and Friday as optional WFH days in Chandler, AZ or Houston, TX. The hourly rate is $50-$60, plus benefits.
Primary Duties
The Category Manager will be responsible for managing all spend analysis and strategic sourcing initiatives within the Tower Operations category. This role is critical to driving cost savings, supplier performance, and operational excellence across categories such as general construction, vegetation management, lighting services & materials, and safety climb services & materials. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing a $65 million annual spend portfolio across multiple tower operations categories.
- Developing and executing sourcing strategies aligned with business objectives, quality standards, and productivity goals.
- Coordinating with Tower Operations, Procurement, and other departments to align supply chain processes with project timelines.
- Conducting RFX events in Coupa, performing bid analysis, and presenting sourcing recommendations to stakeholders.
- Overseeing supplier contracts in collaboration with Legal and business leaders to ensure compliance and performance.
- Driving supplier relationship management, continuous improvement initiatives, and performance monitoring using scorecard data and feedback.
- Identifying and mitigating supply chain risks to ensure business continuity.
- Leading change management and ensuring successful adoption of new sourcing programs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- Minimum five (5) years of experience in Supply Chain Sourcing and/or Tower Design, Construction, or Operations.
- Strong experience with contract management, master purchase agreements, and terms and conditions.
- Proficiency in JDE and Coupa (or similar spend management platforms).
- Excellent analytical, negotiation, and data-driven decision-making skills.
- Strong interpersonal and communication abilities to build and maintain cross-functional relationships.
- Knowledge of vendor platforms such as Ciena, Arista, Juniper, and Dell is a plus.
