The Opportunity
A Fortune 500 telecommunications company seeks a Network Permitting & Utilities Supervisor on a remote basis, with a preference for candidates located in San Diego County, CA . This is a long-term, temporary position expected to least at least twelve months, possibly longer. The position requires 10–15% travel within the Irvine–San Diego area. The hourly rate is up to $45 - $50, plus reimbursement for internet, cell phone, and mileage expenses.
Primary Duties
The Network Permitting & Utilities Supervisor will lead all activities related to securing entitlements, permits, right-of-way access, and utility attachments for telecom infrastructure deployment. The role involves managing a team, coordinating with utility companies, and ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Additional duties include:- Oversee utility relations, agreements, and application processes; negotiate access agreements and monitor timelines.
- Lead a team of specialists to manage permitting, entitlement, and utility coordination functions.
- Represent the company before local agencies, planning authorities, and governmental entities.
- Prepare, submit, and track permit applications; ensure compliance with NESC, NEC, GO 95, FCC regulations.
- Act as a liaison between internal teams and external stakeholders; resolve conflicts and maintain accurate project data.
- Provide research and guidance on utility attachment conditions and compliance requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in wireless carrier/site acquisition, utility coordination, or jurisdictional planning/zoning.
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in fiber, telephone, or power utility joint use matters, engineering, or rights-of-way.
- Public Right-of-Way permitting and wireless industry experience preferred.
- Familiarity with PUC rules, NESC, GO 95, NEC, and FCC regulations.
- Strong organizational, negotiation, and communication skills; ability to multitask and work independently.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and database systems.
- Willingness to travel 10–15% within the region.
