Description
The Calibration Technician performs calibrations, repairs, and quality checks on Army medical and logistical equipment to ensure accuracy and compliance with DoD standards. This role supports equipment reliability, mentors junior staff, and contributes to quality assurance efforts in a technical, hands-on environment.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

·        Perform calibrations, verifications, and certifications of a wide range of Army medical and logistical TMDE in accordance with established procedures, accuracy requirements, and military/industry standards

·        Apply calibration methods and measurement science to analyze error sources, test accuracy ratios, and uncertainty of results to ensure equipment reliability

·        Troubleshoot and repair malfunctions in complex measurement and diagnostic equipment using schematics, block diagrams, technical manuals, and software diagnostics

·        Repair equipment as required. Equipment requiring repairs shall be returned with all necessary calibration and Preventative Maintenance Checks and Services (PMCS) actions completed

·        Train and mentor junior technicians and apprentices in calibration principles, technical problem-solving, and DoD quality assurance procedures

·        Support the Quality Control program by identifying nonconformities, analyzing data trends, conducting root cause analysis, and recommending corrective actions

·        Interpret technical data, engineering drawings, and schematics to determine calibration requirements and ensure compliance with Army maintenance standards

·        Inspect TMDE for preventive maintenance, cleanliness, and safety, and document results through authenticated calibration certificates and correction charts

·        Complete all assignments in strict adherence to DoD regulations, technical manuals, and standard operating procedures (SOPs)

·        Perform other duties as assigned.

 

Travel
Occasional travel may be required (0-15%)

 

Work Schedule
Monday - Friday, 0650 – 1520

 (6:50 AM – 3:20 PM PST) 

 

Qualifications

·        Associate’s degree in electronics engineering technology, calibration technology, or a related technical field Programs are typically offered at community colleges or technical schools and may include coursework in circuitry, metrology, and engineering

·        Minimum 2 – 5 years of related calibration or metrology experience (may substitute equivalent military training or experience for degree requirements)

·        Knowledge of calibration principles, measurement science, and DoD calibration policies

·        Experience with computer-controlled diagnostic and analytical systems

·        Proficiency in the use, handling, and care of calibration and measurement standards

·        Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills

·        Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and calibration management software

·        Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment

·        Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills

·        Additional technical certifications in calibration or electronics, preferred

·        Hands-on experience with TMDE calibration in a military or biomedical environment, preferred

·        Experience with calibration software, preferred

·        Prior experience supporting Department of Defense or medical logistics contracts, preferred

·        Previous customer service or technical support experience, preferred

·        Must provide documentation of eligibility to legally work in the United States without an employer sponsored visa.

·        Must be able to pass client background screening for security clearance.

 

Salary

$ 28.00 to $ 31.45 per hour 

$ 58,240.00 to $ 65,416.00 annualized

·        Work is performed in a technical, hands-on environment that may include calibration laboratories, maintenance shops, medical facilities, warehouses, and occasional field locations supporting Army medical and logistical operations.

·        Primarily works indoors in controlled shop settings, with some exposure to operational or field environments as mission requirements dictate.

·        Regular interaction with precision measurement equipment, diagnostic tools, computers, and calibration standards.

·        Work is conducted in compliance with DoD regulations, safety requirements, quality assurance standards, and established standard operating procedures (SOPs).

·        Frequent collaboration with engineers, quality personnel, military customers, and other technicians, including mentoring and training junior staff.

·        May require travel up to approximately 15% to support off-site calibration, inspections, audits, or customer requirements.

·        Ability to sit, stand, walk, and move throughout laboratories, shops, and facilities for extended periods

·        Frequent use of hands and fingers to handle, adjust, and operate precision instruments, tools, and electronic equipment

·        Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull equipment and calibration standards weighing up to approximately 40–50 pounds, with or without assistance

·        Visual acuity sufficient to read technical manuals, schematics, calibration data, and computer displays, including close-up and detailed work

·        Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, or reach as necessary to inspect, calibrate, or repair equipment

·        Manual dexterity and fine motor skills required for detailed technical adjustments and measurements

·        The role may occasionally require working near moving mechanical parts, electrical equipment, or test signals, and adherence to established safety practices and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
