Certified Addiction Counselor I (CAC I)
V-Tech Solutions, Inc. is seeking a Certified Addiction Counselor I who provides entry-level clinical services to individuals with substance use disorders under regular clinical supervision. The CAC I will conduct screenings, assist with assessments, participate in treatment planning, and facilitate individual and group counseling interventions. This role focuses on foundational clinical work, developing competence with GAIN assessment, documentation standards, and crisis response procedures.
Advanced Assessment & Screening

Lead client screenings to determine appropriateness for program admission.

Independently complete intake, administrative requirements, and initial assessments.

Conduct and interpret the GAIN assessment without supervision.

Evaluate client risks, needs, and barriers using advanced clinical judgment.
Treatment Planning & Clinical Leadership

Develop, update, and refine treatment plans based on clinical progress and client needs.

Guide clients in setting measurable goals and selecting appropriate therapeutic interventions.
Counseling & Advanced Therapeutic Interventions

Provide individual and group counseling using specialized therapeutic techniques.

Deliver advanced psychoeducational modules and recovery-focused interventions.

Independently manage crises and implement crisis intervention strategies.
Referral Services & Care Navigation

Coordinate referrals to internal and external service providers.

Assist clients in navigating complex systems such as housing, medical services, and mental health resources.
Documentation & Compliance

Ensure all clinical documentation is accurate, complete, and entered in the EHR on the day of service, including all assessments, plans, and progress notes.

Support quality improvement and compliance initiatives.
Team Collaboration & Professional Practice

Participate as a clinical leader in multidisciplinary meetings.

Serve as a resource to CAC staff and may guide less experienced counselors.

Engage in continuing education to support advanced clinical practice.
Required Qualifications

High School Diploma – Required
-
Bachelor’s Degree – Preferred
Credentials & Experience
-
Current and valid CAC I license issued by D.C Health
-
National addiction counseling certification from NAADAC or an approved equivalent
-
Minimum 2 years of relevant professional experience

Successful completion of all required background checks

Ability to work with high-risk and vulnerable populations

Works under close supervision.

Carries a standard or lower acuity caseload.

Minimum 2+ years of relevant professional experience, typically with demonstrated progression in clinical responsibility.
Knowledge & Skills

Proficiency with the GAIN assessment and complex case formulation.

Strong ability to manage high acuity cases and crisis situations.

Advanced understanding of substance uses disorders, evidence-based interventions, and trauma-in-formed care.
