@Orchard is retained by a top geospatial technology company in their search for a Mid-Level Full-Stack Software Engineer to join their team. This role will be performed at the customer facility located in Springfield, Virginia. As a team member, you will have the opportunity to closely support mission partners, and your work will have direct mission impact. In this role, you will work closely with data scientists, geospatial analysts, all-source analysts and the cybersecurity team to create and maintain a diverse range of applications served out to a targeted user-base.
The Team/The Work/The Environment:
- Our client’s team is a multi-disciplinary team focused on using their expertise to build and maintain focused software applications backed by a self-managed, on-prem private cloud and big data stack, housing over 15 petabytes of data.
- Their background in mission support and data science expertise serve as a catalyst to solve unique and challenging technical problems in support of special operations analysts and their on-going activities.
- Rapid development and frequent, iterative feedback are core to their delivery approach, anchored by a need to work quickly in support of their mission customers.
Your Role:
As a Mid-Level Full-Stack Software Engineer you will focus on developing web applications for real-time query and analysis of a petabyte-scale data store, creating distributed analytics purpose-built to support mission partners, and helping to transition data science workflows into user friendly applications for analysts.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a US citizen.
- Current Top Secret security clearance w/ SCI Eligibility and willing to get a CI poly.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering or a related field (4 additional years of experience may be substituted for a Bachelor’s degree. A Master's degree may count as an additional 2 years of experience.).
- 5 years demonstrated experience with programming, design, and development.
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of the entire software development lifecycle
- In-depth knowledge in Python, Java, or similar programming language.
- Working knowledge of containerization (Docker, Podman) and container orchestration (Kubernetes, Nomad, etc).
- Experience with ORM software (Django, SQLAlchemy, Hibernate, etc)
- Working knowledge of Linux operating systems (navigating the filesystem, common management commands, etc)
- Understanding of TCP/IP networking and working knowledge of remote system workflows (SSH, port forwarding, server/client architecture, etc)
- Exposure to building and supporting solutions in a cloud like environment (such as OpenStack).
- Working knowledge of agile software development practices and tools, such as GitLab
- Must be able to work full-time, on-site in Springfield, VA.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using Python web frameworks (Django, FastAPI, etc)
- Experience with front-end development using React, Angular, or other JS framework.
- Experience utilizing an Elasticsearch cluster.
- Experience with Spark.
- Experience with Hadoop (HDFS, YARN)
- API Rest Framework development/maintenance.
- Experience with provision and configuration management tools such as Ansible, Terraform, or similar.
- Strong verbal, written, and organizational skills.
