Custom Learning Designs has partnered with Hueman to find a Director of Business Development.
This is a remote position but will require travel.
As a Director of Business Development you will act as a strategic advisor, listening deeply, asking thoughtful and probing questions, uncovering both stated and unstated needs, and shaping how CLD’s solutions can support client training objectives. Work in close partnership with instructional designers, medical directors, workshop designers, and other internal experts who contribute their perspectives and insights. Together, you create the approach and solution that will be presented in proposals and pitches.
Custom Learning Designs (CLD) is a leading provider of custom training solutions for pharmaceutical and life sciences companies. At CLD, we support our customers in developing customized training for their commercial sales teams, medical teams (MSLs), patients, and physicians.
A Typical Day Might Include
- Leading a capabilities presentation during a competitive bid for an upcoming drug launch.
- Collaborating with instructional designers, medical writers, and workshop creators to craft a winning solution to an RFP.
- Conducting a discovery call where you ask probing questions, uncover a new opportunity, or help a client solve a training concern.
- Following up on highly qualified marketing-generated leads and converting them into new relationships.
Key Responsibilities:-
Conduct insightful discovery calls with prospects and clients, using strong listening and questioning skills to uncover needs and even expand the perceived scope.

Advise training leaders across Pre-Launch, Launch, and Sustainability phases on how CLD solutions can drive key behaviors and business outcomes.

Translate complex training challenges into clear, strategic recommendations.

Represent CLD in competitive presentations and facilitate discussions with senior-level stakeholders.

Own and manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through proposal development to close.

Act as a strategic partner throughout client engagements, helping maintain satisfaction and uncover ongoing training needs.

Represent CLD at conferences, trade shows, and association events.
Job Qualifications:

3-7+ years in consultative sales for an agency calling on the pharmaceutical industry.

Proven track record in new account development and expanding business within existing accounts.

Willingness to travel for client meetings, pitches, and industry events.
