At Movement Schools, we believe every scholar deserves access to rigorous, standards-aligned instruction that builds confidence and mastery. We are seeking a strategic and hands-on Math Director (K–5) to lead mathematics instruction across the network.

This role is ideal for a content expert who thrives in classrooms, leads through coaching, and uses data to drive continuous improvement. The Math Director will strengthen instructional systems, lead unit unpackings, and ensure math instruction is aligned, rigorous, and responsive to scholar needs.

What You’ll Do

You’ll lead with clarity and urgency to ensure high-quality math instruction across K–5 campuses.

As Math Director, you will:

Serve as the Network Content Expert

  • Lead the vision and strategy for K–5 mathematics instruction

  • Unpack standards and guide leaders and teachers in aligning instruction to grade-level expectations

  • Ensure vertical alignment and coherence across all grade levels

Strengthen Instructional Practice

  • Lead unit unpackings and long-range planning sessions

  • Model lessons and jump into classrooms to coach or teach when needed

  • Provide actionable feedback that strengthens rigor, discourse, and conceptual understanding

Leverage Data to Drive Results

  • Analyze assessment data to identify bright spots, trends, and areas for growth

  • Partner with school leaders to develop strategic action plans to close achievement gaps

  • Monitor progress and adjust instructional supports accordingly

Build Strong Relationships

  • Cultivate trust with teachers, instructional leaders, and school leadership teams

  • Collaborate across campuses to share best practices and resources

  • Build partnerships within and beyond the network to strengthen math instruction

Who We’re Looking For

We’re seeking a leader who combines deep content expertise with strong coaching skills.

You’ll thrive in this role if you:

  • Have deep knowledge of K–5 math standards and best instructional practices

  • Can clearly unpack standards and translate them into rigorous instruction

  • Are comfortable coaching, modeling, and teaching in real time

  • Use data strategically to inform next steps

  • Build strong, collaborative relationships across teams

  • Lead with both high expectations and humility

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred)

  • Minimum of three (3) years of successful K–5 teaching experience in mathematics

  • Demonstrated success improving student math outcomes on state test

  • Experience coaching or leading adults

  • Deep knowledge of Common Core standards-based math instruction

  • Commitment to Movement Schools’ mission and values

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading network-level or multi-campus initiatives

  • Background in curriculum design or instructional leadership

  • Experience in high-performing charter or choice-based school settings

Compensation & Schedule

  • Starting Salary: $80,000

  • Employment Type: Full-Time

  • Benefits: Comprehensive benefits package available for eligible employees

  • Schedule: Academic calendar with network-wide travel as needed

  • Must live in the Charlotte or Atlanta Metro Area
