Description

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for managing RGI’s accounting processes, systems, operations, and personnel. Provide assistance to the accounting staff and Senior Director Accounting as needed.

DUTIES:   Items that are in bold type are considered essential job functions in compliance with ADA.

  • Prepare journal entries including accruals, deferrals, reclassifications, and correcting entries.
  • Complete the monthly Virginia sales tax filings.
  • Ensure timely processing of invoices, employee reimbursements, and vendor payments. 
  • Prepare all customer invoices and ensure A/R balances are correct.
  • Record and post bi-weekly payroll to capture labor costs accurately. 
  • Record all revenue related to the E-Commerce business from marketplace sources.
  • Review and import daily all store-related sales into Business Accounting Software. Communicate discrepancies with store management.
  • Prepare and issue year end 1099 reports and file the 1096 through appropriate channels.
  • Input daily cash activity, transfers, and credit card deposits. 
  • Provide monthly GL reports and payment vouchers to Mission Services.
  • Prepare property tax returns. 
  • Prepare assigned account reconciliations, research and correct any discrepancies to maintain ledger accuracy.
  • Assist in month-end process and reporting.
  • Prepare Mission and WIOA grant related customer invoices and ensure accurate billing practices.
  • Supports in maintaining accuracy in accounting/finance procedures and assures internal system integrity.
  • Promptly respond to ad hoc reporting and/or analysis requests from member of the management team. Assist in preparing various external reporting to outside stakeholders including the monthly Goodwill Industries International (GII) Finance Report. 
  • Follows and enforces accounting and financial operating procedures under policies and/or guidelines, assuring use of approved accounting procedures. 
  • Provide audit support, documentation and requested schedules to Senior Director Accounting.
  • Act as backup for accounts payable.
  • Other duties assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Training:

  • BA or equivalent and 5+ years of related experience. A master's degree may be substituted for experience. 
  • Strong knowledge of general accounting practices with ability to make appropriate and accurate accounting decisions. Non-profit experience preferred.
  • Strong analytical and accounting skills.
  • Sage Intacct Software experience a must. Martus experience is desired.
  • Experience with general ledger functions, the month-end/year end close process, and creating consolidated financial statements. 
  • Excellent accounting and online banking software user and administration skills.
  • Tax, payroll recording and reporting experience.
  • Experience with GAAP.
  • Must be able to effectively handle multiple projects simultaneously in a deadline driven environment.
  • Excellent verbal, written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Accuracy and attention to details.
  • The individual will be expected to work with minimal up-front guidance and take ownership of his/her work product. 

Physical Demands:

  • Mobility: Must be able to sit for extended periods while working at a desk or computer.
  • Lifting Requirements: May occasionally life up to 25 pounds, typically for transporting files, documents, or office supplies.
  • Posture & Movements: Frequent use of computer and office equipment may require occasional bending, reaching, standing, and walking. 
  • Manual Dexterity: Regular use of hands and fingers for typing, handling documents, and operating office equipment. 
  • Travel: Occasional travel may be required to attend training sessions, meetings and professional development as needed. 
  • Vision Requirement: Must be able to read and interpret financial documents, reports, and spreadsheets and utilize computer monitors and accounting software with appropriate screen resolution.
  • Communication: Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills are essential for collaborating with internal and external stakeholders. Must also be deliver presentations, conduct and engage in meetings in person and virtually. 

Working Conditions:

  • This is a remote position, with occasional in-office hours and travel required to attend training sessions, audits, meetings, and professional development opportunities as needed.
  • Remote employees will provide, at their expense, a secure and dedicated work area to ensure confidentiality and focus during work hours. 
  • The remote work environment is expected to be conducive to professional productivity, with access to a reliable internet connection and the necessary technology to perform job duties effectively. 
  • Evening and weekend work may be required during busy periods such as financial reporting deadlines or audits.

  • Noise levels in the remote environment will vary but should remain conducive to productive work.

Pay Range
$70,000.00   Annually to $80,000.00   Annually
