A top client, backed by Shore Capital Partners, is seeking a Senior Controller. In this high-visibility role, the Senior Controller will be involved in the Company’s growth plans and ultimately responsible for driving the creation and implementation of scalable systems, internal controls, processes, and procedures to support high growth. The Senior Controller will also support decision-making through accurate, timely, and useful Accounting and Finance reports. S/he will maintain the general ledger, oversee the financial close process, prepare financial statements, and support the integration of acquisitions into the consolidated accounting function.
As the Senior Controller, you will:
• Plan, organize, and implement key accounting/finance packages including monthly GAAP accrualfinancials, cash controls, cash forecasting, lender analysis, and other financial packages.
• Maintain internal control and safeguards related to corporate governance, revenue, costs,receivables, payables, and capital expenditures
• Ensure accurate and timely recording of all transactions by implementing disciplines of internalaudits, controls, and checks across all company locations
• Work with the leadership team to establish and implement a foundational ERP/AccountingSystem.
• Create and calculate KPIs for the leadership team.
• Partner with the leadership team to push metric management discipline throughout theorganization.
• Champion the year-end audit by providing the requested information to the external CPA firm.· Support integration of acquired agencies into the consolidated accounting function.
· Support the financial evaluation of potential acquisition targets, including conducting detailed
financial due diligence, building valuation models, and assessing the strategic fit with the
company’s growth objectives.
In order to be successful in the role, you must possess:
• 6-10 years of overall work experience.
• An undergraduate degree in Accounting or Finance; a Masters or MBA is a plus.· Experience in insurance brokerage or on the insurance carrier side is preferred.
· Experience with managing fiduciary account balances and reconciliations.
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills with the ability to create financial models.
· CPA is strongly preferred but not required.
· Private Equity experience preferred.
· M&A and integration experience will be helpful in the role.
· 3+ years of experience at a public accounting firm or 5+ years of experience in a similar role.
· Preferred location is Chicago, IL or Madison, WI; however, qualified candidates from other geographic markets will also be considered.
