Technical Project Manager

Colorado Springs, CO (Office-based with regular in-office collaboration)

Must be a U.S. citizen

@Orchard LLC is looking to engage an experienced Technical Project Manager with the capabilities to support a fast-growing company that operates under the fundamental truth: life depends on communication. When disaster strikes, or threats arise, standard networks fail. That’s why our client builds tamper-resistant, EMP-hardened, private 5G and edge-computing infrastructure designed to keep critical infrastructure, military operations, and essential services connected when everything else goes dark.

Engineered and developed in Colorado Springs, our client, SEMPRE (www.sempre.ai), combines software-centric 5G architecture, high-performance edge computing, and hardened hardware into all-in-one solutions that deploy in minutes. They are a mission-driven, fast-paced team where innovation meets high-stakes reliability.

As the Technical Project Manager, you will be the engine driving hardware and software programs from concept through field deployment. You will serve as the crucial connective tissue between product, engineering, manufacturing, and customer delivery teams. In this role, you’ll ensure the client’s survivable, EMP-hardened 5G communications platforms move seamlessly from R&D into the hands of the defense and critical infrastructure customers who rely on them every day.

What You’ll Do (Core Responsibilities)

  • Program Planning & Execution: Own comprehensive project plans, schedules, and budgets across hardware/software engineering development and customer delivery workstreams to keep milestones and deliverables on track.
  • Cross-Functional Coordination: Serve as the central hub aligning engineering, product, manufacturing, and field teams, resolving technical dependencies and proactively removing blockers.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Deliver clear, transparent status reporting to internal leadership and external customers, translating technical milestones and risks into clear, actionable insights.
  • Risk Management: Identify technical, schedule, or resource risks early and implement aggressive mitigation strategies to protect project deadlines.
  • Process & Tooling: Establish, optimize, and document scalable project management standards, frameworks, and tooling as the firm rapidly grows.
  • Delivery Oversight: Partner directly with customer-facing and field delivery teams to ensure technical outputs transition smoothly into successful, on-time customer deployments.

What You Bring (Required Qualifications)

  • 10+ Years of Technical PM Experience: Proven track record of managing complex technical programs spanning both engineering/product development and customer-facing delivery.
  • Cross-Functional Leadership: Demonstrated ability to unify engineering, product, and delivery teams around shared priorities and aggressive timelines without needing direct line authority.
  • Technical Fluency: Comfort working side-by-side with hardware and software engineers, with the technical depth required to evaluate trade-offs, manage scope, and assess risk.
  • PM Tooling & Methodologies: Practical mastery of project management frameworks (Agile, Waterfall, or hybrid) and standard tooling (e.g., Jira, Asana, MS Project).
  • Exceptional Communication: Outstanding written and verbal skills, with a talent for translating complex technical concepts for executive leadership and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Citizenship: Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Nice-to-Haves (Preferred Qualifications)

  • Industry Background: Prior experience in telecommunications, 5G/networking, or critical infrastructure technology.
  • Certifications: PMP, CSM, or equivalent professional project management certifications.
  • Startup Agility: Experience in a fast-growth startup or scale-up environment where you enjoy building efficient processes from the ground up rather than just following existing playbooks.
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Business, or a related field.

Why Join?

  • High-Impact Work: Build technology that secures communications for the nation's most vital missions.
  • Collaborative Culture: Work in-person alongside sharp, dedicated hardware and software innovators in Colorado Springs.
  • Growth Momentum: Be a foundational pillar in scaling project management processes at a rapidly expanding tech company.

Ready to secure the future of mission-critical communications?

Compensation: The anticipated base salary range is $120,000 to $130,000, plus bonus. The full compensation package is determined by experience and qualifications. Our client offers a competitive benefits package to all staff members.
